The Prussian authorities’ decision to turn the city into a stronghold turned it into a military town for years afterward. There was great inequality in the treatment afforded the city itself and its military installations. The needs of the stronghold ultimately determined how the city developed. Especially painful were various building restrictions imposed by the military. Poznań residents had to find ways to cope with this interference and maintain a certain degree of normality.

On the Route you must see !
The remnants of former Prussian fortifications – strong fortification walls were erected around the center of Poznan and they lasted till the beginning of the 20th century. It is reflected in the urban development pattern of that city section in modern times with a symbolic relict of a tiny blockhouse of the 4th Colomb bastion.
Apollo Movie Theater – in one of the first shopping and entertainment passages a garden named Odeon was created. It was later on transformed into a place for concerts and theatrical performances. Today, a remnant of that place is Apollo movie theater building which played an important role prior to the Wielkopolska uprising .
